watering and heat
Hi,
Everyone - 85% of my seeds have sprouted and i have moved them to another tray with
a grow light about 1-2 inches away, How much water- should I be spraying the pods everyday or let them soak in at the bottom . when I feel the pods they seem cold and a bit dry. Is it time to move them to a 3 " pot.
Thank you
Tom

Re: watering and heat
Here's what seems to work for me:
I water from the bottom, putting about 1/4" of water in the bottom of the tray. If there's any water remaining after 30 minutes, I try and dump most of it out.
I only water when either the plant shows distress, or, hopefully before that, the top appears very dry (in the case of my seed starting mix, it turns a light brown).
As far as when to re-pot, you want to do that before the seedlings become rootbound - gently pull one out -- if there are roots all the way to the bottom and edges and beginning to grow along the edges, it's time to re-pot.
As far as temperature, that probably depends on the plant. Anything above 60-65 is probably okay.
Hope that helps.
