This is what all desert countries should be doing, and this is the kind of stuff that overseas aid should go to.

A dear friend of mine visited Israel last fall and spent some time on a kibbutz (collective living area). She marveled at their fruitfulness and the results they were getting, she couldn't stop talking about it! They fed themselves and had more to share/sell.
