This was the first thing I attempted to grow four years ago when I began sfg.
It's still a thrill to grow my own broccs.  Love the stuff. Each is about 6 inches or so depending how you turn it to measure it.  There are eight more still growing if all goes well.

Dang LM, those are gorgeous!  I can't get broccoli to head up for me so I end up eating the leaves (which I just saw this week they are actually selling at the grocery store now Shocked ).

Maybe I'm growing the wrong variety.  What variety is yours?

Here are a couple of photos of this year's prize broccoli.  It's the Express variety.

Made lots of broccoli cheese soup from a copycat recipe by Panera Bread.  Roasting some, freezing the rest.

LM, please post recipe or link!!  My daughter's all time favorite soup is Panera Bread's broccoli cheese soup.  She's asked me a number of times to find a recipe.

Yep, looks like broccoli to me.  I finished harvesting all my main heads.  Now I am playing around with the leaves and stalks.  Making Broccoli flakes and Broccoli powder to be used for something.

The broccoli stems should not be thrown out.  Peel off the hard outer skin and toss away.  Then you are left with plenty of tender insides.  Slice those thin and use however you want.  I freeze to use later on in soups.  And that's how much I love broccoli !

Scorpio,

Yes on the picture, it is from a couple of years ago.  He wears this for different p.r.  and fund raising events every Christmas. He's a working boy and very friendly with people and other animals.

And yes the snow was a big hint the picture is not from this year!  Lol.

Thanks, S.R.!  You're a large animal fan.  I like my llamas but I love my cats that I can cuddle in my arms too.    As you know today is such a wet sloppy day, the llamas are inside the barn and others sitting out on the covered porch, waiting for better weather.   Little do they know..
