This is SO WEIRD! I was just telling my mother yesterday that I think I'll try growing tumeric since I'm trying ginger.

Too funny! Where do you think you'll find the turmeric root? And where did you find ginger to grow? Are you planting these indoors, I presume? Now I want to try ginger too!

And the turmeric in smoothie idea is great! I wonder if Reboot Your Life is where my sister got her smoothie ideas from. She makes morning green smoothies that are out of this world.

I'm going to check, like camprn said, the local farmer's market and see if anyone carries either turmeric or ginger root.

Down the road from work here is a health food store. They often carry fresh organic ginger and tumeric roots. That's where the ginger came from. It's in a pot outside right now but I'll bring it when I bring in the tomato plant. I figure that tomato & ginger probably like the same conditions.

The tiny onions are about useless to me. Are yours bigger?

Use them like pearl onions? Add to roasted veggie pan?

Cc save those babies. They should get bigger next year. I always and up having to feed my shallots.
I'm going to try to beef up my compost this year..

You gotta admit, those potato onions are pretty like that.

The problem I had with the potato onions wasn't so much the size, which were pretty much like your middle there, but the fact that so many of them rotted when I brought them indoors.

My multiplier (walking) onions are multiplying like crazy. I think I like those better.

Great source for your roots!

Are the walking onions about the same size as those potato onions?

My walking onion bulbs rarely get larger than a centimeter across.

I haven't used the walking onions yet, but I can see some in the surface and they don't look that small - more like 2" or so across. I wonder if the type has something to do with it.

If these turn out to be fairly large, I'd be glad to share bulbs, because they're pretty prolific. I'll see what they look like next season.
