Where Do You Buy Tulle?
Looking at the pics of yolos' garden, I'm thinking that some tulle might be what I need to protect plants from Texas sun. Where does one buy it in sizes adequate to stretch across a bed (without having to resort to sewing) as seen in his pics? Do fabric stores carry bolts that wide? I'm guessing that it takes more than 8' (96") of width.

At a fabric store, sometimes there is a bridal section. Walk in and ask the staff will set you up. They may have to order it.
There is also eBay.

Sanderson - I saw the 60% off coupon but it looked like an on-line coupon. Did you find a 60% off coupon for in-store.

Sorry boffer, I don't know what is the "best" color. I just buy the white. I have seen some people use green, but the thought of a bunch of large green humps out in my garden does not seem to be pleasing to me.

Re: Where Do You Buy Tulle?
The top of my bed this past season was tulle at $1.25 a yard...cheapest walmart had.
When the season was over, all I had to do was touch it and it fell apart...( no more tulle for me )
Bottom section was a material from Joann Fabrics. $5.00 per yard, 36 inches wide.
I could tie this around pipes, around itself, wired weights to keep it down.
Used it all season, when I removed it, material was as good as new, kept bugs out, allowed sun (diffused ) and rain water in and great air flow over the bed.
I bagged it up for next year
Looked to me like a mix cottony material.. and it is strong.
Left front is a different material

108" tulle only comes in white, black or ivory that I have seen. 54" comes in lots of colors, but I still use white or ivory. I have switched to 54" for my covered wagon style. It fits the 4' wide side to side then goes over the top of the PVC. Then 2 squares will cover the ends. Makes a neat package that is easy to get into on the ends without disturbing the over the top.
And yes, it is a one season fabric.

Re: Where Do You Buy Tulle?
Just posted my review on Joannes site, this stuff for me is the best, smaller bugs, just add another layer...that's what I'd do.
I've found most bugs that get in almost immediately try to get out and wind up at the top...

Re: Where Do You Buy Tulle?
I use tulle for two purposes. To keep the moths from laying eggs on my broccoli. This fabric would seem to work for that. I also use it for Squash Vine Borers. I am not sure it would keep out the SVB moths as they are much smaller. But I like the idea of using it for vegetable mesh bags for harvesting veggies or maybe storing certain types of veggies (ie onions, potatoes, garlic etc).

Re: Where Do You Buy Tulle?
I managed to buy some black netting like that on ebay after many many hours of searching . I tried all manner of search names but nothing came back .
After the fourth cup or so of coffee in a flash of inspiration I put in the search box " Black tubular netting " and got taken to a Anne Summers type strange shop .
You just can't imagine how hard it was trying to convince Alison that was the reason I was in the site looking at these, "Ladies " clad in just a simple tube of knitted net when she saw what was on the computer screen.
Anyway to cut a long story short I purchasd 8 mtrs of tube and slit it along one edge to make a nice big soft fruit net and a couple of cold weather fishermans neck scarf's
