Why a Timer on Edits?
If this has been asked and answered before, please forgive me and apply the appropriate number of lashes with carrot tops. I searched but found no hits.
Why is the forum set up to prevent us from editing our posts after a little time has passed? Most forums I've participated in allow the poster to edit his own posts in perpetuity. Is there a resource or performance issue?
I ask because no matter how well I preview I generally leave typos or mis-statements that I don't catch until some time as passed. Then, it's too late.
TIA

Re: Why a Timer on Edits?
I believe you have a 30 minute edit window. If you would like editing done after that I can do that for you.
I am not sure, but I would guess it is to prevent changing the nature of the thread that may have already generated replies.

+1 beat me to it!
There's a 30 minute edit period after posting.
This was instituted in the early days of the forum because folks were going back and changing the context of the content which made the responding posts look like they weren't addressing the OP. Plus, a couple troublemakers abused the edit privilege behind everyone's back.
I get embarrassed myself at the some of the boo-boos I make. Contact a mod, camprn or sanderson, and ask them to fix it.

I just blame my boo boos on being so eager. I think faster than I type.

Kay, just blame your boo-boos on your tablet like everybody else does!
No tablet? No problem. Nobody knows that but you!

It the privilege was abused, I certainly understand why it was taken away. I've never done that, only ever correcting mistakes or misstatements. I've never seen it abused anywhere, but I've not been everywhere (yet) either.
Just seems a shame to have to bother an admin or moderator with my errata.
