I'd like to know what these spots are. My research on the web didn't tell me weather it's fungal or a bacterial infection. It's a common problem around here, whatever it is, but I didn't have the problem my first year growing it here (2010). I have these spots on both my Sweet and Thai basil.

I did a google search and came up with this discussion.  If yours is the same thing, there is a worm inside the leaf so you can pull the leaf apart and see if you see a worm.  This link did not give a cure but maybe you can use it to track down the cure if yours is the same problem.

It sure looks like the same malady to me.

That's a really distinctive pattern. Hope you find the answer quickly.

GREAT JOB YOLOS!  That's exactly the same pattern!  BTW, I noticed that most people who commented with the same issue live in S. Florida. I'll have to get out my glasses, magnifying glass, and exacto knife for an inspection. But judging from the photo, I'm certain that this is it. I guess I'll have to start spraying my basil with BT on a regular basis. Of course I'll discard all infected leaves first. Funny thing is that I originally believed that it was something like a leaf miner. Then when I looked it on the net I was lead to believe it was a fungal or bacterial infection. Although none of the photos of examples were this conclusive.
