A Happy Hello from Los Angeles - in the Valley!
I am VERY excited to be part of the Square Foot Gardening community! I look forward to growing with all of you!
I got my first real start in gardening about a year and a half ago when I volunteered to save our school garden. We have about 640 square feet of raised beds - 1 bed per each class. We just finished planting our second full crop last week, and with it we converted to a Square Foot Garden. It's the BEST way to go with students - we are thrilled! We have a great deal more to learn and practice, but we are well on our way and are a very enthusiastic team.
I also have a goal to launch a small garden company in the near future to help further establish the method in other schools and homes, to help people learn how easy it is to grow LOCAL, to inspire children to eat healthier, and to have fun.
Happy gardening to all!

Student Garden
My sister was a Gifted and Talented Teacher for Grades 5-6. She and her students did a garden each year, right outside their classroom area where the kids could watch it grow, etc. Everybody loved it and the kids got to take the vegetables they grew home with them after harvesting.

There is a new book out for SFG and kids. Here is the Amazon link, but it can be bought elsewhere, including from the foundation's website.
