Hello From Cleveland, Ohio
Hello Everyone!
We are in our second year of gardening. This will be our first year trying out square foot gardening. We got the book from the library, and we are setting up our site this month. Any suggestions would be of great help.
We are thinking of buying the Garden Stamp. Is anyone familiar with that product? and if you are, is it worth the money?
Thank you for your help and advice,
Ethni-City Gardens

Welcome to the forum.
They are known as dibber boards. There's plenty of info about how to make them on the net, if you're a DIYer and want to save money.
I haven't tried them because I plant seeds a few squares at a time, and it would take more time to find the tool than it does to poke holes with my fingers. Also, I like to experiment with spacing sometimes.
What are you planning on planting?

Thanks for the info.
We will plant watermelon, salads, spinach, flowers, swiss chard, herbs, radishes, onions, carrots, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, squash etc.
We are just getting into the book, so we haven't read what goes with what in a square foot, or about succession planting in square foot gardening.

Ethni-City, Welcome to the SFG Forum!
SFG using Mel's Mix is very different from row gardening or even plain raised boxes. Because of the Mel's Mix, the planting is more intense, closer together. I think most of us plant seeds by making a hole with our finger, and little seedlings using our hands. A dibber board isn't necessary, except for carrots and onions if you want.
When you have finished the book, you will find a whole new way of gardening!
