The weather was nice this morning so I left the door open while working inside & outside. One of the dogs starts going bonkers barking & running around the patio. Just as I got to her I caught a glimpse of black snake speeding into the house. Found this guy in the bathroom,

We have a couple of these Black Racers hanging around here for years, this one is 4 foot long. This is the first time in the house. Really glad the dog tipped me off to it or it would have been ugly if Ann saw it first.
Had a Mourning Dove in the screen porch last weekend.
Anybody else having critter visitors lately?

wishing the weather was that warm. had a large doe in my yard a couple of years ago since then put up an end gate and Garlic so far seems to work. Use crushed pepper for the Raccoon and beer for the snails .
counting on Marigolds and lavender for every thing else  Very Happy

That's funny!
These guys are harmless but really fast. Turned it loose by the shed to keep the rodents out. My dog really doesn't like snakes either, I think she is afraid of them too.

Well, we have rattlesnakes so leaving the door open is a VERY bad idea !!!  I have forgotten before or the grand son will leave it open on his way out.  Have only had a sparrow in the sunroom so far. Hopefully, that will be the extent of the visitors !!!

We have black widow spiders here in GA.  DH had a habit of leaving his garden shoes in the garage.  Until he got bit by a large female.  (CDC actually called us because of her size!)  Apparently the only thing that saved him was that she bit him on the foot and he's such a big guy.  Had he been a child...  Spending a night in the cardiac unit is not something I want to repeat.

18 years later, he still has trouble with that foot from time to time.  It's like more poison breaks loose & the foot wants to cramp and bend in half the long way.  But we keep our shoes in the house now!

affraid  affraid  affraid  There are black widows where I grew up in CA. Always had to watch out when getting stuff out of the garage or the shed or the wood pile. Spiders don't usually bother me, but I HATE those things!!!  affraid affraid affraid

Black widows! Thank goodness they are so distinctive looking. I have gotten very good at dispatching them, if not for my safety, then for the cat's. The retired County entomologists said that the BW is the only spider that can actually kill a human.

We have black widows on our enclosed porch - obviously not too enclosed.

Worry about our cats getting into one's web but they have been lucky.
Prefer to wear leather gloves when I'm working out there.

A friend of mine in California almost lost her leg because of a brown recluse spider bite she hadn't even noticed at the time. I think that qualifies for pushing the black widow out of the solo spot for potential killers.

We have scorpions and brown recluses and a couple of other dangerous spiders up here. I feel very very uncomfortable digging through the wood piles to stack up our logs.

My son found a baby copperhead snake just outside his front door last Sat. He almost stepped on it.   We shudder to think what might have happened if the barefoot baby had toddled out the door.  It was about 6" long and and about like a pencil in diameter.

Yikes!! a copperhead by your front door.  Another lovely thing about Hawaii.  No snakes.  Yet.  Sometimes they (brown tree snake) try to hitchhike in on supplies but so far we have been able to stave them off.  That particular bugger has really down horrible damage in Guam.

I really haven't had crazy critters... unless two young hungry boys, who go through looking for snacks and can't find anything to munch, count. ( the boys are mine by the way) Razz
