Mid-At: Apr 2014 - Is it FINALLY spring?
Can it REALLY FINALLY TRULY be spring here in the Mid-Atlantic? Or do you think we'll have another cold snap?
Here in the middle of Maryland we're in USDA Hardiness Zone 7b and our average last frost date is April 15th, so I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised that we've had cold weather, but I was.
We've had quite a bit of rain lately so my Mel's Mix will be ready to go when I'm ready to plant.
This year I'm adding Epsom salt, AZOMITE and mycorrhizal fungi to the beds. While I know the compost from Veteran Compost is outstanding, I think the addition of these trace minerals and the fungi will benefit the SFG.

What do you think your MM is lacking and how can you tell? If you add all three and see some kind of improvement, how will you know which product helped?

I've seen pictures of the difference in root & top growth after the use of the fungi and the AZOMITE. Magnesium is good for germination and chlorophyll production. Sure can't hurt.

These garden amendments can be useful to an experienced gardener but would you recommend to a brand new gardener using the SFG method to use such amendments?
