Adding wheels to table top beds
Knowing that there is a thread somewhere here about adding mobility to tts, I searched for over 1 1/2 hrs this am to find it and never did, so am starting this one for HELP.
Purchased two 2' x 4' cedar tts from HD, but each is only 30" tall so yes, I can add cinder blocks, under the legs to raise them. I would like them to be moveable so bought some 5" dia wheels.
My question is what is the best way to add these wheels?
1) to a piece of thick plywood with a lip on the perimeter of the plywood to keep the tt from slipping off
2) or a support made of 2 x 4s that would support the legs of the tt as well as the wheels. The 2 x 4s would be assembled into a rectangle, a bit wider than where the tt legs are, suspect that this simple frame would need braces.
Any ideas or experience in adding wheels?

Re: Adding wheels to table top beds
Judy - I talked to ML (aka Mr. Gadget Guy) about this. He recommends a solid platform of 3/4" -1" plywood with 2x4's around the bottom perimeter of the plywood. Then attach the wheels directly to the 2x4's.
Not sure if you really need a lip. He doesn't do that with his roll-arounds.
He also says that you might consider a couple of wheels in the middle as well, depending on how heavy the box is.

Many thanks, Atlanta Marie for checking with your ML. Since I will be doing this project by myself - it is great to get info from an expert.
