Hi All,
We are on the Treasure Coast, just south of Stuart, zone 10b. Kind of stumbled into the square foot gardening. This past fall I was planning to re-start a small plot in the backyard and my wife agreed to raised beds. After I had the beds built & brought in all the topsoil and planted I found the square foot site. Needless to say there is no Mel's mix in the beds. Started out with rows and have changed over to the SF plantings. So far so good! I have gleaned a lot of good info from this site.
Thanks

hi TC! Welcome to the forum. What are you growing in your garden right now?. Do you have any photos?  I'm always interested in what Floridians are growing and when because someday it will be me.

Hi CC and thanks for the welcome.
As a newbie I don't think I can post pictures yet.
Since these are new beds we did some experimenting this year. The rabbits have fattened themselves up at the gardens expense. The next project is a better fence.
I got the cool weather plants in late so some of them didn't do well. Like the lettuce, Kale, broccoli & spinach. The ones that did grow became rabbit food.
I have Marketmore cucumber a pickling(?) cucumber. The Marketmore is producing well.
Seminole pumpkin, this one is just starting to set fruit. It has taken over part of the garden!
Athena cantaloupe just flowering now.
Silver queen sweet corn is just coming up.
Rosita eggplant
tomatoes, Rutgers, Beefsteak & a yellow one. These I bought as transplants. I just planted from seed two for the heat, Matt's Wild & Tropic. Have to see how they do.
2 bell peppers from transplants, Just planted Melrose & Carolina Wonders.
The New Zealand spinach hasn't done much but I'll replant some soon.
I started sweet potatoes in a open area outside the beds. A few survived the rabbits. I have grown some more slips to replace those.
I have a few watermelons plants just about large enough to go in the ground.
My wife also has a section for some herbs.

TC, Welcome to the Forum!  glad you\'re here  Those pesky wabbits!  sobbing

Southern Gardener, I think you are the one with durable metal mesh cages that should be able to thwart even Bugs Bunny? If you could post or PM a photo for TC, they can have some nice salads this fall or winter. Thanks

Yes, there are 6 tomatoes. They have really grown out of control. I put the hoops up earlier for some frost protection, I then used it for a support of the tomatoes. The plants are now pulling the hoops down. I gotta find some better supports next time.

I can't see the very back of those boxes but maybe you could run a trellis, like you have on the right there, across the back and then weave the tomatoes in and out of the grid. That's what I do. It works great even in high winds.

Ok that sounds good. My tomatoes never grew this tall before. The raised beds & improved soil have worked their magic.
