CapeGoddess - IDK if expired yeast would work or not. It has to be "active". Try it. You have nothing to lose.

My mind gets kind of weird at times. When I dump the beer/yeast pans morning and evening I have this vision in my mind of slugs rushing to the pans shouting "Beer Party."

They really are sots.

So do you do this when plants are getting completely decimated? I get some damage, but I think it is pill bugs, on radish seedling, etc.

I did this with plain water last season and worked nicely
Fill with water then level top of can with soil

Pill bugs typically eat decaying matter and very rarely go after living plants.
