Uncle Jack WW2..Normandy Invasion
I was going to continue this story on a Ketchup topic, however I thought it may have been considered a hijacking.
Since I failed to list this story on Dec. 7th I thought maybe here would be a better place instead of the
Tomato Ketchup thread.
Every Dec 7th I think about an episode with my uncle Jack Francis from the Scranton area in Pennsylvania.
I do not remember exactly how old I was when this happened but it was before the Normandy invasion.
My uncle Jack was killed during that event.
I was visiting uncle Jack's house which was located in a Scranton (Avoka?) suburb...
I was climbing an old apple tree in the yard at his home, playing around with a rope wondering how it would feel to be dangling in a tree on a rope..(child's thoughts) who knows what could have happened????
Uncle Jack came walking up the path proud as a peacock in his army uniform, with a smile on his face that never went away, I remember uncle Jack placing me on his shoulder carrying me back to the safety of his home..
I never saw uncle Jack again after that visit because he gave his life during the Normandy invasion.. Never have I forgot the wonderful feeling I had when I was around him, even tho many many years have passed.
I am sure there have been many men like uncle jack who gave their lives for the liberties we now enjoy..may God have blessed them all

Yes! God bless them all and all those they left behind.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Thank you. That was a blessing and very powerful emotionally to hear. Freedom is not free. Thank you Jack for serving and the sacrifice. Thank you Jimmy Cee for sharing.
