Wood Destroying Insects

I set small boxes within 10 inches of the foundation of the house, and this is what I was afraid would happen. silly me

I'm in the process of raising the boxes up on 2 layers of cement pavers as the boxes are cleared for fall maintenance. Husband is putting plywood bottoms on these boxes. The soil is primarily red hard pan in this area. Never amended, so it drains slowly. We had termites in this section of the outer wall of the house a few years ago when I had raised rose boxes!! Dummy to do it a second time!! dangit

PS: The plywood sheet I had him buy months ago to allow chemicals to flash had the words "formaldehyde free" stamped on it. My question is, what did they use in lieu of formaldehyde?

Do you plant veggies in these or just flowers/roses?

Sfg boxes for veggies, only. I just don't want to support a colony of pests next to the house, because I don't want them invading and eating the wood studs and plates.
