Tom, Welcome to the Forum!
I think this is a great gardening site with a bunch of good folks.

Re: hello dare from cajun country
Welcome from one Louisianan to another !
Lots of good info here on this site and great people too. If you have not already checked out LSU Ag center planting guide, here is the link: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/lawn_garden/home_gardening/vegetables/
This is a great place to start for planting dates, varieties to plants, and other info here in LA.
We love pictures, so post some of your garden when you get time.

Also from Louisiana
Hi there,
I am also from Cajun Country. I am new to the SFG idea. I have helped in large row gardens all my life. I now live on my own and do not have the equipment or the want to make those big long rows.
I will have plenty of questions to ask. I will start for the fall with 1 4x4x6 garden box. I'm gonna grow cabbage and fall hardy plants just to try it out.
Can't wait to get started.

Welcome Tom! Hope you do well in your gardening adventures.
Read the SFG book as soon as you can, if you haven't already. It's a great book, and it will quickly get you oriented with where the forum folk here are coming from when they toss ideas around.
If you're into it, we love seeing gardening pictures too, so don't be shy about sharing yours!

Welcome Cajunsmoke. I almost missed you sneaking into Tom's post and we don't want any of our new members to get left our. You will be pleased at how easy a SFG with MM is to manage.

Thanks for all the well wishers. Have carrots and radishes planted. Waiting for vidallia onion sets to come in November. Will try some sweet peas too.
