I need some advise as what to do. I'm able to grew the things I plant very well, but!
-What I get is 10 foot tomato vines with medium size tomatoes.
-Beets with tons of leaves and few large beets.
In other words I'm growing lots of vines and leaves!

Any and all help will be appreciated!

beets can be tricky...old timers near me spread hardwood ash in areas where beets are to be grown...but too much can mess with the soil ph.  I think hardwood ash provides plenty or phosphorus which is ideal for beets.

All tops and no beet root can also be too much nitrogen...I've read beets need nitrogen to get good leaf grown, then not so much when the beet root is forming.

A soil test bill probably give you the best answer.

I can't address size, but tomatoes commonly need a good level of phosphorus -- the "P" in the NPK fertilizer combo -- to set fruit.

I used a lot of compost tea this season and got strong, rich leaf growth from my tomatoes and other plants, but I got more fruit when I cut back and supplemented with phosphorus.

Thanks Marc Iverson
I will find me some phosphorus to try. One thing I left out was that I felt like I should have had ten times the number of tomatoes than I actual got. So, I will try the phosphorus. Thank you

here are a couple beet pics from this spring and last year...don't know if my fall beets will do very well...first frost typically in a few weeks and the seedlings are still small...reseeded a few times due to heat, poor germination, critters, etc.

I used a product called BLOOM BUSTER 0/very high figure/0 when I was trying to force my broccoli to put out florets before hot weather hit.  Don't know if it helped but I got some 11" heads using half the recommended strength in my MM and just at the base of the broccoli.
