Cicada in my garden
I think this is an annual cicada, because of the green eyes. I am guessing this is a bad pest but I just hate to kill it.

Funny you mention cicadas. This was the first morning of this year I heard three of them screeching-communicating to each other (I suppose). Last year I poked one with a stick to get it out of the garden and it couldn't seem to find its way out of the critter cage, they sound even worse when they're mad and frustrated.

growsunshine, it is pretty amazing. It just sat on the shepherds pole in my garden like it was posing for me.
llama mama, it was the first one that I had seen or heard this summer also. I saw it vibrating when I first saw it, and heard others in my neighbors yard.
camprn, thanks for the link. I am glad that I did not kill it. When I went back out it was gone.
