Cabbage Help

Hi Everyone,

This is my first year square foot gardening and it's going really well so far. However, the cabbage that I've planted from seed needs some serious help. It started out fine but over the past few weeks it looks like it's been eaten by something, but I can't seem to figure out what. I've taken a look around for bugs and I've only found tiny little black ones so far. I'm not sure if these are the culprit or if it's something else.

Also, it appears that this same problem is spreading to my broccoli and cauliflower which are located one box over. But it's not happening to other veggies such as my beets, cucumbers, etc... in the same boxes.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions it would be much appreciated.

P.S.

I tried uploading a photo of my poor cabbage through the 'host an image' icon, but had some trouble. If anyone has tips on this I'm all ears as well.

Are they tiny black bugs or the poop from the green worms of the white butterfly?? The center of my cabbage was filled with poop. Yuk! Into the garbage can the cabbage went. I had covered it with tulle but I think the butterfly laid her eggs where the leaves touched the tulle. Sounds like what ever it is, it is attacking the brassicas.

Broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage and are all part of the same family, I believe. It's most likely cabbage moths that are laying their larvae in the leaves. I have heard that putting the foot part of a pair of pantihose over the vegetable helps, as it lets it continue to grow, but the larvae can't get in.
