Too much rain?
We recently got an incredible amount of rain in my area and just two days later a few of my plants looked sick. Could this be too much rain or something else?

Are those bush bean? If so did it get cooler with the rain? They tend to like it warm maybe the cold shocked them, just a thought. Someone else might know more about it though.

How long has that bean plant been growing? What are your temps now?

Re: Too much rain?
I planted the beans in April so they have been growing about 6 weeks or so. The temps here are high 80s during the day and mid 70s at night. It did not get cold with this rain.

Re: Too much rain?
The only thing I can guess is it is a nutrient deficiency caused by the heavy rain. See page 24 of this. Is your rain possibly acidic where it would have changed the pH of the mix? That can affect absorption of minerals from the soil. But this big a change just two days after the rain is astounding.
Re: Too much rain?
Thanks so much for the attachment on bean diseases. My squash looks similar and my tomato just looks like it died...I apologize for not mentioning it before. Any idea why it didn't affect all my plants and only some of them?

Re: Too much rain?
The squash looks like it could be the start of powdery mildew, which wouldn't be surprising in warm, humid conditions after the rain. It's also spread by wind. Are the white spots kind of fuzzy and you can rub them off? For powdery mildew I use 4 oz. milk and 28 oz. water in a 32 oz. sprayer with a tablespoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of Neem (if you have it, or a few drops of dish soap). I would say the tomato is a lost cause. If you can get another transplant, I would replace the tomato. You might save it but it will never produce much.

So sorry to hear about your plants. It has been raining a lot here in England to. 2 whole days and nights
My french beans are looking poorly-washed out due to the rain I think. Too much of anything is not good
However it has to get better. Hope you find a solution to your sick plants.
I was looking at your grid. It looks fab. Mine is made out of string which after a couple of days has come undone already!! Please can you tell me how you made your grid

Re: Too much rain?
I will definitely try the milk/water mixture for my squash. Unfortunately we are about to get more rain today. I'm not sure if I should put a tarp over my whole garden to avoid any more problems.
My grid was made by my husband with some one inch pieces of wood from the local hardware store. He measured them to fit tightly into the garden box and just layered them over each other. They seem to be staying so far. Prior to that I used the bamboo sticks you see in the picture (for vining) and tied them together. That worked well also but was less aesthetically pleasing.
