Grasshoppers are back in full force here in Central/North Texas! Walked through pasture this weekend and there were swarms of young ones.
I need to protect my vegteble beds and trees as I lost so much last year from them.
Does anyone know of an inexpensive cloth that I could cover with? Toule is pricey even on sale for the amount I need. Going to look for sheer curtain panels at resale shop but will have to sew many together to do any good.
I have also purchase NOLO bait, but don't look for it to do much good as we live in country and they seem to come in from pastures.
Thanks

I just watched a tv program on grasshopper / locusts! Voracious eaters that can wipe out everything. For the boxes, it seems to me that metal window screening [formed into boxy covers] would be better than anything of cloth or plastic. The trees? I don't have any idea. Best of luck

I haven't tried it, but the poly window screening seems to be fairly flexible and should last more than one season. Can it be clipped to the pvd pipes the same as tulle? And it might be enough shade to help plants that suffer in the heat in your area. Any comments or other ideas out there.

Kay

Mother Earth News recommends chickens and guinea hens. Problem, though, if you live in the city. Nonna
