Please include your Zone
It would be very helpful to those who would like to respond to questions if you would include your zone when posting. One easy way to do that is to include it in your Profile. You can edit your profile and add your Zone to your Location.

AHS Heat Zones, or Sunset Climate zones?
For most of us, it's a no-brainer, however, you might check around the site and find a website that will allow you to put in your ZIP and feed you back the info.

Zone Confusion
Hmmm... I always have used the Sunset Garden book zones because I thought they were more accurate. At least they have a lot more zones and it is the ones that the garden stores use around here. Not sure how they differ but my numbers are sure different. Sunset has us on the line between zones 13 and 14, the zone calulator listed earlier has us as an 8b. Is this kind of like French and English for the same thing? Should I change my tag line to be the 8b designation?
Re: Please include your Zone
Strange -- I've never even heard of zone 13 or 14 for the US. The highest in any chart I've seen is 11 (very tropical). Some states use a different schema, for example, in Texas I'm in zone 3, but that doesn't mean a hill of beans when comparing to national zones.
Apparently Sunset is using their own formula, but plant catalogues I've seens and I would think most discussions on this forum would use the standard charts. So I think I will stick to 8A rather than 33 (where Sunset places me). Both cover approximately the same area.
