Can I plant my Tomatoes and Pepper?

Hi everyone!

I just received my 3 tomato plants today along with my 1 pepper plant:

Rutgers, Sweet Baby Girl Cherry and Big Boy Hybrid.
Sweet Candy Apple Pepper

I am anxious to plant all of them tom. Do you think it is too soon?
I usually plant them mother's day.

You can plant them any time -- although you always risk the wrath of mother nature. Generally, you want the soil temps to be above 50*F at all times; if you evening lows have been and are predicted to be below that for the next couple of weeks, I would wait...or you could always replace them if they don't make it.

In your zone I think you can take the chance. Just have some old towels and blankets handy in case of a frosty nite that might sneak up on you.
I'm in zone 5a Maine and plan to put in my toms and a few peppers next week and then cross my fingers.

I am in 6a and May 10th is the last frost. Checked the weather for the next 10 days and all temps above freezing so I put them in yesterday.

Also planted beans and cukes by seed.

Hope the season is productive.

You're daring. I saw that the lows are supposed to be in the 30s Sunday night and am going to try to hold off until later next week. Of course, then I'm running the risk that I'll kill them before they can get in the ground!

It looks like a couple of light frost nights here. I am putting some peat moss around my plants and hoping for the best.

I am in Northern Maine and i have my tomatoes and peppers put in now. I cover them over when we dip down low at night and they seem to be doing okay so far. (Admittedly, I did not grow up here and so often make the mistake of thinking I am still in California lol, like buying rosemary because I recall it to be perennial)

Same here - from CA, living in SD - forgot and left my rosemary pot on the porch all winter... lots o

I'm one of those who figured I could take a chance, plant everything and if it went bad I could replant.
I recently found that plants that go through cold periods are harmed by the cold, they will not flourish as the same type of plant planted in warmth and the warm remaining..
I recall planting tomatoes that had buds on them, then planted normal along side.
The normal plants surpassed the larger one, and became a nicer plant.
Constant warmth of the planting medium must mean alot..

So far my tomatoes and pepper plants are doing fine. Tonight is suppose to me a bit cold but no frost warnings. My soybeans are actually coming up for the 1st time ever. Last yr I tried to grow them but they never came up. I think it was a bad batch of beans. thinking
