Hello new friends.
Hello from Long Island, NY. This looks like a lovely forum to support my sanity therapy which is what I call playing in the dirt. Last week I planted 24 cucumber seeds (from a 20cent packet) and got 20 sprouts.
How cool is that! I found this site while trying to find out if eggplants are vines and if they grow along the ground. Got side tracked and registered. Will now continue my search. Gaylethe.

Re: Hello new friends.
Gaylethe,
Welcome to the forum. Ask questions and you'll usually get some answers.
Eggplants are bushes that are very temperamental regarding temps. They like it warm. They won't thrive unless the evenings are in the 60s, making it tough for we Mainers in zone 5a to grow them in abundance, but I always have a few plants. Even a few fresh-from-the-garden eggplants are better than none at all.
Even if I just had radishes and greens, I'd be a bit happy. I love getting my hands in the dirt. It feels sooooooo good.
