I have lima beans and green beans planted in different boxes, but they have the same kind of little wholes in the leaves. What could be eating them, aphids? How can I prevent more damage?

Aphids suck sap out if the plant and generally do not produce holes that we may see with the naked eye. May snails/slugs? beetles? could you post a photo?

Hmm. Well I hope you can help me. I noticed it last week and then it has been raining for the past few days and it just looks horrible now. The lima bean plants are the worse. [img][/img][img][/img]

The images didn't post. Here is a tutorial on how to post photos.

Did you have a hail storm recently? It looks like there are holes and then the leaves are shredded..........
It's hard to tell from here...

These holes are huge so if there are bugs or worms eating the foliage you should be able to see them.

I couldn't see your picture but my green beans two years ago had small holes in them and they were cause by these little green lady bugs. They are called cucumber beetles. Search using the top left hand side to see how best to get rid of them. They are horrible little things!

At least one of the leaves to me looked like it could have been munched on, but I could be wrong. Try going out at night with a flashlight and look under the leaves and on the stem and see if you find any bugs. If the damage does not continue, then it may be that it was all from hail. Also check to see if you have any slime trails that would mean you have slugs or snails.

Are you still having troubles with new holes in your plant leaves?
