I see there is an old post about chickity doo doo from 2010. Does anyone else have any experience with this product?

Hi April, do you have a specific question on the subject? I'm sure many here could give you a hand.

It stinks terribly and I think is a fertilizer, not a compost. But I did use it last year in my mix!

I thought it was fertilizer, too, and used it a couple of times on my lawn. Never put it in my compost tho.

I got a 25# bag of it at Menards last year for $8. I use it as a fertilizer--especially after a N heavy feeder or prior to a N heavy feeder. I added it to my bed last fall that has spinach in it this spring. I'll use more after the spinach is done because sweet corn will follow the spinach.

I may be wrong, but I believe it is all composted chicken manure and feathers. I used some last year. It has a bad odor and it attracts flies until it has been rained or watered in. Since I used a number of different composts, I cannot say if it was good or bad. I was pleased with my output last year, so I would assume it contributed to the success.

I added chickity doo doo to my first year Mels Mix because my plants were yellow and stunted...helped alot. Now that I'm able to work in home-made compost into my MM, I use chickity doo doo sparingly.

Thanks for the info everyone! I bought a couple of bags & yes it does stink! I'm not crazy about them being granules but the website does claim that it's 100% organic chicken poo with no fillers. I guess I just like the feel of dirt between my fingers. Wink

Last month I also bought chickity doo doo.
I went on the company's website and it stated it will not burn your plants since it is not fresh compost.
I decided to wait until the fall to add it to all my gardens when I am ready to close them up for the winter. It is suppose to be a great product! Very Happy

In my first SFG last month I used our local recycle center's compost.
Mgr told me it was made up from grasss, and brush cuttings.
Chickee doo doo was added, 1/2 pint to a 5 gal bucket, along with some additional items.
horse, mushroom, manures were also added to the compost.
I planted a bunch of cold weather crops 3 weeks ago and they are all doing fine as of now..

Chickity doo doo is granulated, and fully composted chicken manure. It does contain some by-products of the process (feathers).

The only problem the granulated medium presents is that is not as voluminous as other composts. I use it as 1/5th of the general compost portion, but reduce the amount a little due to it's potency.

It is VERY HIGH In nitrogen and can overwhelm certain plants...Be careful when using it...

However, to make it most effective and readily available for your plants, wet the mix down good and let it marinate for a few days before planting....water it a couple of times in those days.
