Am I starting too late in the season?

This year I was so busy at work that I didn't get around to starting my seeds. Last night I started peppers, cukes and tomatoes in one of those jiffy indoor seed starters. I'm in zone 6.

Think I'll be ok anyway?

Great question, I just started seeds in a jiffy kit last weekend - don't know if I am in a zone 6 or 7? I'll be interested in reading your answers.

Where is Aurora? My vague recollection is that it may be in the Willamette Valley. If so, you're probably in Zone 8.

Drixnot, I'm in Western NY, so your planting schedule is ahead of mine by probably a few weeks (my last frost date is May 20). I just started my tomatoes last Saturday (6 weeks blf), and my peppers two weeks ago (7 weeks blf), so I think you may have gotten a late start with them. But if all else fails, you can always buy starts from a nursery Smile

Your cucumbers, though, sound like you planted them on time. Good luck!

Well... I suppose I will just have a slightly less productive year than other people... I'll live.

On the other hand I do have lots of them because I plan on sneaking onto empty lots in my neighborhood and planting my extras. lol.... Ninja gardener! hiddenID

I started my first SFG in the end of May in zone 7, and had varied success with different veggies. I still grew radishes and some lettuces (shaded), but none of the cold crops worked for me, of course.
Did great with cucurbits (cucumber, pumpkin,squash), seedling tomatoes and eggplant. Also melons, watermelons and various herbs, especially basil.

I would probably just go and buy tomato and pepper seedlings at this point. And, in addition, would direct seed some tomatoes, just to see how they do.

You still have a great chance with pretty much everything else except cold loving veggies at this time (you can plant them in fall).

Well I started tomatos, cukes, peppers as well as a variety of herbs that I intend to put into small planters that I can bring inside when needed.

I also have some medium planters intended for parsnips, carrots and beets. Those are about 1 cubic foot each... still small enough to move if I have too.
