Arugula Jungle?
Anyone growing arugula? Mine overwintered and is now taking over the SFG box. I am scared of it. Never plant more than one seed! We are overflowing! What to do? Pull it out and sell to third world countries so they can fight the hunger?
This thing just keeps going like crazy!
I pulled the smallest plant today and its root was the length of the Amazon river.
Help!

Re: Arugula Jungle?
It looks like it has begun to flower, so if you don't want a lot of volunteer plants either pull it or eat it(but it's probably gone bitter, no harm in trying though).

Love your description, Weedless! I agree with Unmutual, pull it now if you don't want it to self sow. If you know any chickens, ducks or geese, they would consider this a royal treat.

Olde gardeners maxim with respect to weeds & plants that are allowed to run to a viable seed
" One years seeds means seven years weeds "
And
" A weed is a flower or plant in the wrong place at the wrong time .

Re: Arugula Jungle?
Thanks all for being mean and telling me to kill a super healthy plant
.
I pulled both arugula piles out this morning, and they are happily resting on a pile of wood chips now, away from the vegetable beds. If they volunteer themselves somewhere in the pile, I wouldn't mind. You were right, they were very spicy and bitter.
