Hey y'all... I ran up on this youtube that has some really great ideas for making an easy greenhouse frame for your SFG. The 2 guys are somewhat clumsy and very amateurish in the making of the vid, yet still offer some awesome ideas and tips.

Enjoy!

Excellent video bnoles! Thanks for posting that. Definitely makes for a usable low tunnel. It would not be very expensive at all with just a little work and usable for several years.

I watched it all the way thru and I think it would be ideal for most gardeners. Unfortunately, I'm not capable of making one so have to deal with greenhouse issues in my own way.
One was to make an A-frame, tent-type, from four 1 x 2 x 6' poles and one brace across the top that was 4'4" long, screws, wire, tacks, and plastic covering and binder clips.

I just placed it over one of my existing 4 x 4' beds, burying the bottom ends deep in the soil and screwing them to the beds.

I work from both wide sides, using the binder clips to hold up the plastic over the top when I'm working inside. It gives me earlier spring starts and this year I hope to try extending my fall harvest, too.

I forgot to add that for air circulation and to keep the area from overheating on a warm day, I fold down the pointed tips of plastic on both narrow sides of the A-frame. You can see that in one of the pix in the above post.
If I can make this, anyone can. I was close on 70 at the time, with leg and back issues and I don't have the strength I once had and I did it without help from anyone.
My only tools were a battery-charged screwdriver and a pair of scissors to cut the plastic. I had the poles cut at Home Depot.

Hi Bea.... Extremely creative and you did a very nice job. Do you use it for shade protection in the summer as well?

bnoles....Yes, I keep the sides open and just cover with cheesecloth over the greens to keep them growing longer. I put my wire clothes hangers inside shaped into half circles and clip the cloth over them with spring clothes pins.
