"Gro Boat" What do ya'll think?
Saw this on craigslist. We have built all our boxes so far, however we have a septic in our back yard, and can't build any more on the ground because of the drain field.
I know we could build something cheaper by doing it ourselves, but the truth is, I have the money to spend and it would be so much easier to make a phone call and have it delivered. So, what do ya think?

I would say... you could make a better investment by buying a conduit bender to make hoops for your existing beds.

I'm looking to add more beds, and have to have them off the ground because of the septic lines. I can order it without the tubing and make my own hoops.

I like it. A raised, raised bed and all done for you. In my own situation (age and med probs), if I had the money, that would be the way to go. No work involved getting it ready, just fill it up with MM and you're ready to grow....and protect your crops.

you don't need the bender if you make hoops with pvc pipe, I'm camprn on this one you'd think for a $50 ,a foot you would at least get a grid? doesn't this bed set on the ground when installed?

I am very impressed with the Grow Boat. Wow. Very slick.
I am (like Turan) also curious about why you cannot put beds above septic lines or drain field.
We actually intend to put a least one bed very close to our septic lines. Is the problem due to the weight of the beds? Now I'm worried.

He's delivering it tomorrow for $20 ! I can't beat that....I will post some close ups of the inside, etc. Now gotta go get stuff for more MM. $$$

You put that in with the talk about humanure and the brain starts to swirl. Maybe the reality lies in the particulars which make it hard to give a simple broad answer. Thinks like are the users of the septic putting non biodegradable cleaners in it and the soil make up and the depth of the lines.
But it still does not answer why use table tops. Just regular ANSFG raised beds full of MM would answer the concerns raised so far.

I suspect the $20 was for delivery only!
If I were wealthy, I'd certainly invest in several of these for my SFG.

And what if you had to have it pumped out due to blockage or overflow? Ugh! Your raised bed would be a goner.

Yes it's $375, plus $20 delivery. I'll post pics tomorrow when it gets here.
