Two months later, how is it doing?
I am just reaching the time I might need to start watering soon. I plan on doing something similar for some beds. On other beds where I already use big soaker hoses I plan to connect both ends to a Y so it feeds from both ends.

drip systems - Drip irrigation question - porous soaker hose - Page 2 Empty Re: Drip irrigation question - porous soaker hose

Oh, heck, I might as well jump in. We have 1/2" tubing supplying water to all our flower beds with 1/4" lines serve specific bushes or misters/sprayers for larger areas. So, it was easy to make individual drip systems for each MM box and connect to the main lines.

First photo with 1/2" main line visible at back of bed. Smaller lines had been moved out of the way so husband could rototill the beds.

Two days later, I announced I wanted a few MM boxes to play around with!! With free wood, husband built the beds:

Plastic covers, grids, container, more experimenting:

Found Dripworks carried 1/4" 6-inch-spaced drip lines and ordered 200'. Got black elbows, tees, etc. from Home Depot and made first one in the kitchen, carefully taping out the dimensions. The drip spots are staggered to provide wider coverage. Boiled water to soften the tubing:

All of the lines are connected together with a folded tube to serve as a "blow out" or possible new connection to it:

Dripworks also carrier 1/4 quick couplers and tees. New line hooked up to existing 1/4" tubing:

Tubing in a potted tomato: [yes, it was sickly at that time]

Tubing for a hanging 12-unit pot:

Tubing for 3 pots, hooked to the 1/2" line on the other side of the fence!

Most of the MM garden is hooked to the main watering system which is on timers to water our 3 allotted times a week. I'm mostly happy with the results of the 6 inch spacing of the Dripworks drip tubing, especially when I stagger the drippers. If I did it again, I would place 3 lines across each square foot instead of 2. Have to hose-water the other 4 days/week. I have a Y on one of the hose bibs so I can fill watering cans and buckets.
