4 different kinds of compost??? Empty 4 different kinds of compost???

Is it absolutely necessary to get 5 different types of compost or would 4 be close enough as long as you have the correct volume for the box? Probably a silly question, but time and finances are in question. Thanks, jjc

The SFG method calls for 5 types minimum.

This is so totally not a silly question!!!!!!

4 would be close, but 5 is recommended because you will need the extra, different nutrients that 5th compost has to offer your growing vegetable plants.
A lot of folks ask about cutting corners in this method and there are some things that may be substituted, but compost is certainly not one of them. If the compost level is not at the recommended amount, or more, you will have less than desirable results. This means you have a less successful garden and an increasing frustration level. Take the time and make the extra effort to find the 5th or the 6th compost for your blend. You will not regret it.

There's free horse manure in Uxbridge. Is that near you?

Not sure how close it is but I hope to be going rite by an Agway dealer this Sunday which is the soonest I could start to mix up everything anyway. Tractor Supply and Aubuchon Hardware just put out their compost in Sturbridge and Southbridge, MA so I snatched those up quickly. Thanks for the help! jjc
