Computer knowledge needed!
Anyone out there that can help?
I can log in, and read or post in the forum. Then, I may be in the middle of reading a thread, and the green sign comes up, either sign in, register, etc. I did not sign out! It just happens, no specific amt. of time.
I've already talked with the administration of this forum. The forum does not do timeouts. It was suggested, either settings for ISP or Internet explorer may be to blame. My ISP has looked into their settings and mine, router, etc. Nothing. I do not find settings anywhere for time outs. Can anyone point me in the right direction? please. It's just very aggrevating. This has been happening for about 3 wks.
This is the only forum I belong to, so cannot tell if it happens on other sites, but may have to find one to join.
Thanks, Jo

Re: Computer knowledge needed!
Did you clear cookies, browser and cache? That's a start. I have no idea what version of IE you use, but a google search on "IE keeps timing out" should land you numerous results and solutions.
Also, make sure you're running the most current version of IE.
Clear forum cookies on the index page, down near bottom of page on right hand side.
And I'm also a Chromey nice and simple. I always found IE way to bloated for my tastes.

Re: Computer knowledge needed!
I recently had many "time out" errors using IE. Turns out the problem was because I installed new virus software (avg) and there was a software glich with AVG. Their website gave a work around to fix it. Did you recently add or update any new software.??

Re: Computer knowledge needed!
Thanks all!
I've deleted all and have deleted forum cookies too. I have IE 9. And yes, maybe 2 months ago I had 'something', maybe a virus, hit my new computer. I had to wipe all and start over. Had to reinstall everything.
I never thought about it being caused by some other program, but, all worked fine for a couple weeks, then this timeout thing started.
I will checkout the IE timeout search and see if I can find a solution.
I think that I tried Google chrome some time back, cannot remember why I did not continue using it?
So far so good, have not timed out while writing this!
Thanks, Jo
