Re: Newbie from Florida
ava,
welcome to the forum!
so glad you found sfg!
it's truly as much fun as you're reading about - and easy to do!
i'm a mom of three young kids and i have discovered THIS is the EASIEST way EVER to garden! and it's so easy to get started in spring! while other folks are dreading the tilling, etc., i'm out planting peas and spinach and all other stuff.
you're gonna be hooked!
my one bit of advice - don't cut corners - follow the instructions for mel's mix and you'll be happy! 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peatmoss, and a 1/3 of at least 5 different compost sources.

Where in Florida are you? I am originally from just west of Jacksonville and now live in rural Virginia.

Re: Newbie from Florida
Thanks guys for the welcome. Hey Ward I live in the Panhandles. I will be going to Jacksonville next month.
I am having fun already doing the square foot gardening. I revamp my gardening layout and made it just a little more easy to handle. I am however having a hard time find vermiculite in my area.
