Hello All,

I just wanted to introduce myself to you. My name is Ava and I am so excited about my new found method of gardening. I have garden for several years the old fashion way. I found about about Mel's sqf garden last month and I immediataly implentmented his ideas. In fact, I ran out and purchased his new book and could not put it down.

ava,

welcome glad you\'re here to the forum! 👋

so glad you found sfg!

it's truly as much fun as you're reading about - and easy to do!

i'm a mom of three young kids and i have discovered THIS is the EASIEST way EVER to garden! and it's so easy to get started in spring! while other folks are dreading the tilling, etc., i'm out planting peas and spinach and all other stuff. Smile

you're gonna be hooked!

my one bit of advice - don't cut corners - follow the instructions for mel's mix and you'll be happy! 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peatmoss, and a 1/3 of at least 5 different compost sources.

Where in Florida are you? I am originally from just west of Jacksonville and now live in rural Virginia.

Thanks guys for the welcome. Hey Ward I live in the Panhandles. I will be going to Jacksonville next month.

I am having fun already doing the square foot gardening. I revamp my gardening layout and made it just a little more easy to handle. I am however having a hard time find vermiculite in my area.

Ava:

If you cannot find vermiculite before going to Jacksonville try the following,

Standard Feed
1282 Kings Road
Jacksonville, FL 32204
904-355-5575
4 CuFt Bag $22.00

Also you might try a Google search by typing in your city and the word vermiculite.

God Bless, Ward.
