With luck, I will successfully have posted a picture of my first bed here in Bend as my current Avatar.

The squash at the left front was started indoors in vermiculite and was about 2" tall with 3-4 leaves when it was planted 3-1/2 weeks ago.

Behind it are some barely visible Asian greens, then some bush beans planted from seed, than a transplanted tomatillo which was kept inside in a pot for too long but perked up once it tasted my new MM. Then there's an invisible broccoli, also sprouted in vermiculite, which is beginning to grow. Next to it are bush beans, also started indoors. Then a transplanted basil, also reviving in MM. Next to it are beets, several of which did not sprout.

You can see the spinach near the foreground! Yesterday, I planted another square, and two squares of slow-bolting lettuce recently went in. This morning, I planted a square of rainbow chard. There are also four garlic cloves that were sprouting in the fridge, and experiment since garlic isn't supposed to be planted here until October.

I can't believe how healthy everything looks, with sufficient sunlight and a really good MM! The green color is darker, and the stems of the plants are thick and healthy.

Aw shucks, sorry you're having trouble with the picture. Well, everything sounds wonderful - glad you and your plants are getting settled in.

Would love to see the picture--actually would prefer to see it full size rather than Avatar size.

Hey you did it! Nice. That little decorative fence is pretty cute too. So is this a front yard garden?

Gwenifer,

Yes, it's a front-yard garden! One of my neighbors has two 8'x4'x12" raised beds in his front yard. I hope it's the start of a trend!

That little fence was installed by my next-door neighbors, who have established quite a little potted garden on their huge deck. On this quarter-mile street alone, there are at least five avid gardeners, excluding yours truly.

I was just out taking measurements for future raised beds. I hope the Foundation makes the new kits available SOON! For the time being, I suppose I could use one more 4' x 4'. Our planting season is about to end, but I think I could squeeze in some onions, garlic, carrots, etc. Not to mention radishes....
