I have a tomato growing in a container outside and would like to bring it inside for the winter. Will I possibly have a bug problem in the house?

you might, but that could be true for any plant you bring in. do you have a room where you could isolate it for a bit at first? a quarantine to see if any hitchhikers have come along? i use our shower stall for this purpose.

Good idea. I have a storage room that I could put it in. How long would you recommend. The plant won't have any light.

without light, i'd keep it quarantined the shortest length of time possible. you should be able to tell in just a few days if there are any problems.

can you put up a light for it, even temporarily? it doesn't have to be a fancy lamp or a special bulb--just something to keep it from starving.

I could put a 2 tube 40 watt florescent light over it.

Is bringing in the tomato plant indoors to extend the season or to save it for next year? I have an awesome tomato plant in the raised bed that I bought which was mislabeled but turned out to be my best tomatoes. I would like to save a portion of the plant for next year. Is this possible? I'm not very good with seedlings.

it is possible but tricky. you need to be able to provide the growing conditions that cause it to thrive. if you can do that, you have a good chance of carrying it over! but as insurance i'd still take suckers to root.
