My name is Gregg and I am 66 yrs. old and live in a condo in Las Vegas. I used to live in southern Calif. At that time back in the 1980's I had a yearly vegatable garden and for quite a while had a raised square foot garden set up, and it was great. If I remember I got the idea from Mother Earth News Magazine, combining a wheel chair garden with a square foot theme.
Now I live in a condo and I am interested in growing vegatables indoors. I have lousy window lighting so I will be growing mostly with supplemented lighting. I am looking for any information on how to do this. I was on the medical cannabis program for the last two years and have a bedroom closet I was using for that purpose. The program was very sucessful for me, I lost 130 lbs. I'm off of all medications, but that is a long and different story. I am now in the process of seperating myself from that program. But, I still have the grow lighting and everything set up. I am hoping to switch everything over to growing wheat grass, and some vegatables, possibly mushrooms, micro greens, and taking up seed sprouting as well. The lighting is T-5 florescent, the cannabis grew well under those conditions. Now I am looking for other natural, organic foods to grow. I have some limited windows space available.
I live alone and this is only for my consumption so I do not need alot, unless there is some overage to give away. I also have a patio, I tried tomatoes, and bell peppers there in containers but it is just to hot here in Las Vegas (111 degrees today) the blossoms would never set, they just dropped off.
I live on a very limited fixed income and like to buy orgnanic, so being able to supplement those costs, and the availability of organics is important to me.
I have been looking into small varieties of everything, while there is a lot of info for, outside gardens using containers, finding information on varities that do well under artificial lighting indoors is difficult. My basic plan of the moment is to use the limited window areas for small tomato's, like cherry, and grape size varities, maybe some other trellis type crops. And use the closet for wheat grass, herbs, lettus, microgreens and the like. As for mushrooms I have no idea...yet. Any suggestions on the how to, and or good publications available at the library, or online would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, Gregg

Welcome Gregg!
I don't have much experience with growing vegetables under lights but there are many people here with tons of knowledge and experience to answer your questions.
Hope you find the answers you need and welcome to SFG!

Hello 654548

Soryy I can't help ith the indoor planting but you might be able to have a fall garden on your patio. Check this current thread for info on fall planting in hot areas:

https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t13508-who-s-braving-the-heat-to-get-a-fall-garden-in#136444

With a litle protection you may be able to grow veggies on your patio even during the winter.

I have tomatoes still going in my garden and you can see ho hot it is here today.
