Who's braving the heat to get a fall garden in?

Well, both of my pumpkin plants died but my cukes are looking great and starting to vine. Finally bought a trellis net for that bed and just need to get it up. Broc/Caul plants are coming along despite getting chewed on (hand picking and using BT). First planting of bush beans are about ready to flower. Pole beans never came up even after replanting. Guess it was a dud pack. A few of my tomato seedlings are still hanging in there, but once again I'm having terrible luck with tomatoes.

My drip irrigation system is leaking like crazy at the faucet and I think I need to replace some parts.

Supposed to be 98/74 today and that's cooling off from the 106/80 weather we were having when school started. So it's still really hard to get myself out there and really tend the garden Can't wait for winter!

I don't have a "square foot" garden, but I do have a raised bed, upside down planters, and bags to grow in. I have learned a great deal from this site and am excited to read more.

I have 15 crookneck squash, 3 zucchini, two tomatoes, 4 pole beans, 3 brussels, 7 cucumbers, red and white potatoes in bags, and last seasons bell peppers still growing. This is my first fall crop and I am so excited! Yes, the heat is horrid, but the pay off is well worth it............I hope!.

I just harvested sweet potatos that I planted in May. I had read they were one veggie that loved the south Fla heat. I had a small 15 in. x 30 in. ft raised cage lined with landscape fabric and filled with dirt. I had no idea they were doing anything at all, then one day I saw one ucovered by the rain. I got 7 lbs of sweet potatoes! One weight in at 2 lbs. And the vines are still alive. Not sure if they will continue to produce as the weather cools off, but I will give it a try. I hear black eye peas also love the heat and will try them next summer.

So yes, you have company out here in the searing heat preparing for a fall crob.
