Beetles on another cracking tiny cabbage? Empty Beetles on another cracking tiny cabbage?

First of all...I have no idea why my cabbage keeps cracking. This has definitely not been overwatered.

Second, I just found these beetles crawling about.

Do I need to do something about them? Are they related to the cracking?

The plant was an organic start and I think it should produce a full-sized head. This head is about the size of a fist. Zoom lens makes it look bigger!

How are your cabbages doing, I saw this post a while ago and was hoping someone would be able to help, I looked for the bugs on google but couldn't find them and I have never seen them before. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will see this now and be more help than me!
