Sealing before processing?

I made Alton Brown's Spiced Bluberry Jammin' recipe with u-pick blueberries.

Before going into the hot water bath, a lid plinked and sealed. I pried it off, wiped it down the rim, put on a new lid, and then threw it in the hot water bath for the 5 minute processing time.

This was the first time it happened to me. Does sealing before processing happen a lot?

It sometimes happens, I usually just put it in the water bath. The heat expands the jam and the air and it will get pushed out during processing and the jar reseals. At least that's been my experience.

Put each jar, as it is filled/lidded into the water bath canner. Do not put the ring on to tightly. The ring is just there to keep the lid from falling off til it is sealed.
