MM in a container box.
Would like to know if Mel's Mix can be used in a self watering container. Also, where can I find it in Florida? Thanks

Hello, I can answer the first question. My self-watering tomato box has 7 foot tomatoes in it!! Yes, MM does really well in the SW boxes. I have 5 and they are all doing well

yes mels mix (we made home made mels mix) does very well in self watering containers....we have a few pots that are self watering along with rubber maid type plastic tubs that my husband made for our children and the plants in them are doing very well.....we used them last year and thought it worked great

Thanks! Can you give me the brand names of the various compost you used. I've read that mushroom compost isn't very good so I'm suspecting that it comes down to quaility among the brands. Good luck with your SFG.

I thought I read that mushroom compost was recommended? I did add that to my SFG so I hope I was not mis-remembering.

Me too. Mushroom compost has been 20% of my mix for five years.

Mushroom facilities use their own preferred recipes, but the contents of mushroom compost is good for your compost pile. The elusive question is the quantity of macro and micro nutrients and biological activity when it leaves the facility, as each one uses and processes it differently. As long as mushroom compost doesn't comprise a majority of your mix, it will be beneficial in your compost pile.
