Hi all!! I've pretty much got the whole thing set up. Still need to build trellis but I know that I can wait another couple weeks. Having the time of my life watching these guys grow from seed. Most of the pics are from a few days ago. I can't BELIEVE how quickly everything grows!!! Thanks to everyone, particularly my mom, llamamomma, for helping me out in getting this all going! You guys rock!!!

Before anything was growing...

I have a few of them but hubby drives truck for HyVee and when he goes on a certain backhaul they get buckets. So I have round and square white and my kitty ones lol...

Hope your momma sent lots of llama poo with you!

nice...if anything falters in the summer heat, planting for fall crops in your area may only be about a month away.

You are off to a great start and your plants are looking good! I would be doing the same thing on growing the peas in this heat. I get anxious also. Good start on your compost pile!

Great pictures! Hope you enjoy it. They seem to grow by inches each day in the heat. I may just have to keep a few litter buckets for planting just for fun. Yours made me smile! Have fun!!

I'm a firm believer in using what containers are avaiable in order to have veggies. Just don't compromise on the Mels Mix. Happy growing.

Nice!! We started late - just got everything planted last week - so it'll be a little while. So far we've been using the lettuce, and there are some little green peppers growing. The empty squares now have seeds in them. We'll be building the trellis against the wall. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil (my daughter added the emoticons)

My husband lined them with weed cloth. Is that bad?

It's not a bad thing as it will help to contain the Mel's Mix. When I built my boxes several years ago I didn't use the weed barrier. This year I had to dig up all 7 boxes and install weed barrier to prevent the infiltrating roots from nearby trees.

I think your boxes look great!! Very Happy

Thanks Very Happy The weed barrier was totally his idea. I didn't think it was necessary but after reading about weeds on here I'm glad he did it! And impressed since he knows even less about gardening than I do. Razz
