heavy duty plastic.
I have found some wood that came from B&Q that has been stained. I was going to make my 1st SFG box out of it. The man in the shop didn't know what the stain was    Its a very dark brown colour. I was thinking
of nailing it together and using heavy duty plastic to line the sides and the bottom. Would this be safe as I am worried about chemicals leaching into the soil
But what plastic should I use and where can I get some

I've found that my plastic lined tabletops are disinegrating where the sun hits the plastic on the walls. For my second set of beds I used 20 yr weedblock. Used the thickest plastic Lowes sold.

I offer that you would be better getting some black pond liner from a garden centre that does outside ponds or buy it on line and using that , for most are guaranteed for 12 or 30 years .. Fish are not affected by the lining as it has been specially developed , they still go glupp gluppp and swin in circles round the pond for many a year ..... come to thinK of it perhaps that's why ?

The garden centre where I got my liner material from cut it off a gert big roll & sold it by the metre , it was five metres wide all carefully folded to 1. mtrs . A one meter strip of this cost me £9 ( ish )inc vat. earlier this year .
If you line the whole bed make sure you have numerous 1/2 inch drain holes cut in the liner material low down or across the base or your likely to have a mini pond which will kill the plants and encourage zillions of mozzies etc.
