Spent as much of the morning as I could take in the heat getting my garden situated for another unattended summer and looking for homes for my red scorpian, yellow cayenne, chocolate habenero, and ghost peppers. Leaving for Kenya on Wed. Back in Sep.

Plantoid, I'm coming back through London. Sure wish I could stop and make a side trip to Wales.

A neighbor is going to keep an eye out on the beds, especially the strawberry bed. The guy that cuts my grass is going to take the sweet potato cement tub and the lettuce containers to his house and I told him to harvest anything he sees that looks good when he comes over to cut the grass. I've set up sprinklers on a timer. At least this year I got to eat some peppers, tomatos and cukes before I got called. And the garlic is all pulled.

Neighbor is going to make sure the worms in the bin are kept fed.

I'll still be in computer contact and will do my regional host thing remotely. It's winter in Southern Africa and although warm, nothing like the 100* heat we are getting now.

Kay

that is too bad Kay, I hope that there is a positive side to this, Kenya seems like an extremely interesting place to go to.
My DH and I have slightly different plans for retirement, his is to travel more, mine is to garden more.
I feel your pain, I just cannot imagine leaving my garden right now.

I'm rather excited. I've never been to Kenya. I just wish it had not been a rushed emergency so I could have planned a trip to one of the safari parks at the tail end. And as I said, I got a chance to enjoy some of the summer veggies this year. The dog days of July and Aug can be limited in productivity here in the lower south anyway. Expecting over 100* weather today.

I gathered in all the ripe and near ripe tomatos and am making a sauce of them to freeze today. Gonna dump a lot of DE on the collards and kale and hope the caterpillers go elsewhere. One last spraying of copper fungicide on the tomatos. For some reason, my beans were not doing well this year so I'm ripping them out. Squash never got to production size. And my malibar spinach never got more than 6" tall.

Kay
