Jars tipped after processing Empty Jars tipped after processing

I tipped over two different jars while removing finished jars of chocolate raspberry sauce from the hot water bath. They tipped over inside the pot. Nothing shattered or spilled out like I feared.

Both made the plink sound after they were removed. Is it a general rule that if it seals and plinks, then all is good?

Those two jars are sitting apart from the others, in case they have to go into the fridge.

No problem at all! If they are not cracked and they plinked, they are good! I can't tell you how many of my jars of jam and tomato sauce I have flipped trying to get them out of the canner!

Chocolate raspberry sundae topper

Thrilled to share something on this canning section instead asking a billion questions!

It's from the Ball recipe website. 5 c of raspberries ended up with 4 1/2 c of raspberries after going through a food mill. I strained the seeds after cooking with the lemon juice but before adding pectin.

The end result is more like a jam than a pudding, which is what I
expected. Think raspberry with a taste of chocolate instead of
chocolate with a taste of raspberry.

It made 6- 1/2 pints and 1/2 c extra, which we ate with homemade Oreo ice cream tonight.

The kids and I went to a u-pick raspberry place this morning, which was neat for all of us. I've never seen raspberries growing, and it was different than what I thought.

Our family enjoyed our homemade oreo ice cream topped with homemade chocolate raspberry sauce made with picked-by-us raspberries. We couldn't figure out if it was really that good or if it seemed that way because of all of our hands-on work involved to make it. I love you

Thanks for the link!

And you can believe that your homemade ice cream and homemade sauce really is that good! Think of all the fillers and artificial ingredients that are NOT in your dessert! Fattening? Yes, but a much healthier alternative to the chemicals and preservatives. Also, when the true flavor of REAL ingredients comes through, there is just no comparison!

After removing the bands from the two jars that tipped in the pot, one had really sticky threads from the contents spilling out. It was definitely wiped clean clean before going in the pot, so I'm guessing the tipping over cause the contents to leak.

The seal is still good. Is this jar okay?

If the jar is sealed then it will be fine. My personal preference would be to use it first. That is only because I have learned that if some of the final product leaks out that means that there is more air (less headspace) in that specific jar and you may experience a discoloration at the top of the jar throughout time (about a year). That does not mean there is anything wrong with it just that it MAY discolor slightly at the top of the jar. Remember, if they all sealed, you did GREAT!
