PNW: Cable spools for table top bases? Battle Ground, WA
Hasn't someone used a cable spool as a base for a table top SFG bed before? I just found an ad on craiglist for some:
Here's the link: http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/mat/3064231890.html

gwennifer,
Haven't tried them, but don't see why they couldn't work. Especially if they were inexpensive or FREE.
Took a look at the CL Ad, and @ $25-50 each I think that's too expensive. That's $50 to $100 for each 4 X 8 TT, for example. Using only one spool might work for a 4 X 4 TT. One could use concrete blocks stacked up to support the TT at each corner. And they won't decay over time. Haven't priced the concrete blocks lately, but 12 blocks (3 per corner) @ $3 (est.) would do a TT for $36 total.
The spools are an interesting idea and still a good find though. I'm sure there could be other uses for them!!!

Concrete block at Lowes is $1.62. I agree, too expensive, but I think Boffer made one. Check with the electric company. You might get some free.
