C&T South: What to Plant in June
OKAY, I spent a LONG TIME writing out what to say in this post, finished it tonight, and it's been destroyed, lost forever, and I simply can't write it all over again...SO, here are the websites (several are links to PDFs) for garden planning guides by state...each one has a list of vegetables and tells when to actually plant them. I had wanted to type it up so people could see what discrepancies there are even for those states on the north coastline of the Gulf, but I can't do this all over because I'm ready to scream from frustration.

Most of us will be starting our fall gardens in July or August, so I'll be sure not to lose my next C&T South garden plan...

Re: C&T South: What to Plant in June
It just blows my mind. I spent $$ on every florida book I could find with planting dates. None of them agree completly with each other or the link for my area you provided.
Personnally I like your list ALOT cause it has more varities listed than any of my books and I can print it on 2 sheets of paper. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. Hopefully I will not have to change to many of my dates As It took me two days on my but marking start dates/hardening info/plant dates/possable harvest dates/ and replacing with data in to a microsoft calender. At least this time I will not have to flip through 4 different books. ..Thanks AGAIN Mary

Re: C&T South: What to Plant in June
Glad this helped you Mary! I think the lesson we can learn from the planting date discrepancies between sources is, growing things is not an exact science, since many variables can influence success or failure of crops. If we are relatively close to a planting date, and not in danger of some extreme variable (like extreme heat and/or drought) that might harm that plant, we probably have a bit of leeway on when we can plant it. If we baby the plants, and stick to our MM ratios, we are likely to be more successful...so long as things aren't attacked by some critter beyond saving. Using things like shade cloth and irrigation systems, we can extend our planting times considerably.
