Hi everyone!! -from SE Virginia
Hi everyone! I'm Jessica. I'm a SAHM and Navy wife. I'm trying to build up a good veggie/fruit garden in our backyard as a good way to get fresh produce. Plus it's a great educational tool for teaching my kids. I saw this site online and thought it may be a great way to share knowledge.

Hi Jessica and welcome to the forum, there is a huge wealth of knowledge here! Are you square foot gardening? I would recommond getting the All New Square Foot Gardening book! It is a great read a the best way to get started. Do you have your garden up and running, work in progress, or planning stages? We also love seeing pictures!

Welcome to the forum. I'm only about an hour south of you down Highway 17 and a Navy mom (retired). A lot of my gardening stuff comes from Chesapeake. I might be able to point you in the direction of Mel's Mix components and comiserate on the local weather. It's very hot now and you may not be able to get much going if you haven't already started, but we have great growing conditions in the fall and usually a mild enough winter to keeps some stuff growing late in the year. Plus 1 on getting the book. It is the how to manual we use on this forum. And if you are in a flood prone area you might consider beds with bottoms raised above ground. Be sure to include pictures. WE LOVE PICTURES.
