Back for an update
Sorry it has been so long since my last update on my gardens.
All I can say is WOW does this dirt grow some veggies ... and FAST.
We have already eaten all the radishes ... lettuce is outta control ... potatoes, tomatoes, and peas are HUGE!!
I did find out the hard way when NOT to water ... I apparantly eliminated an entire 4x4 box of strawberries
A couple questions now:
1. How long can I expect my lettuce to produce? As it gets hotter will shading it help it to last longer?
2. Being that this is my first year gardens should I be adding any additional furtilizer to the tomatoes, potatoes, corn or anything?
That being said I am absolutely loving watching this stuff grow ... its incredible
As soon as Photobucket uploads my photos I will post a few

Re: Back for an update

Back right box: Onions, cucumbers, snow peas
Front right box: potatoes, beans, lettuce, carrots
Back left box: Supposed to be strawberries

Front left box: tomatoes, peppers
We are in the process of framing out the area with red mulch and it looks so much better so far.

Re: Back for an update
After we returned from 5 days of glorious camping for Memorial Day I was very suprised to see how much stuff like our lettuce had blown up. Never knew the purchase of a water timer and sprinkler would make such a difference.

Pic from inside our house (best angle for overall of garden) and this has my auto sprinkler in action
Yes, sad to say the lonely empty box in the front left was supposed to be strawberries. It has 1 little plant I didn't burn by watering at the height of the day

The greens look great. All ours bolted in the heat some weeks ago. I tried replanting a late crop of lettuce, but it bolted quickly and got bitter.

it looks like you "overhead" water your entire garden? if so, you don't have problems with powdery mildew etc? your garden looks great! congrats!

Re: Back for an update
powdery mildew?
Dang I was going with the whole "if I don't think about it, it won't happen"
But to be honest the way I have the sprinkler set up I hopefully won't have issues with it. My sprinkler is set up to be on for 10 minutes @ 4am. If need be I can hit the manual button in the dusk for another 10 minute shot of water.
